Police Auctions

Note: This information last updated on 29 November 2013, and based on publicly available information, including information supplied by the vendor. Our company has not necessarily examined or tested Police Auctions. Our company may receive a payment if you purchase membership of Police Auctions after following a link from this website.

Despite its name perhaps implying that the Police Auctions website is just about auctions conducted by police departments and law enforcement, it does actually the website's remit is wider than - encompassing government auctions more generally. Apart from anything else the words "Government Auctions" appears in both the website title, and prominently in the text of the website, additionally the site seems to include live auction listings of many items being sold through non-government auctions, which you can bid online.

If that sounds confusing, let me try to summarize, the Police Auctions website includes access to two main kinds of auction data:
  1. Non-government auctions, where individual items being sold are shown online, and you can bid online through your browser.

  2. Government auctions, where the information simply provides information about how to attend these auctions in person (you can search these auctions to find auction events within reasonable travelling distance of your location).
In addition, to the above, as well as auction data, there seems to also be further information available on the website - for example lists of foreclosed properties.

There are two options for joining the Police Auctions website:
  1. You can join as a Basic/Restricted member. This is free, but only provides access to a minimal set of site features, albeit including non-government auction listings.

  2. You can join as a Full member, getting full site access, and in that case paying either a monthly fee, or paying a setg for 1 year's access.
One final thing that I think I should point out regarding this site, is that you really should read the terms of service carefully before joining, especially as regards items sold through the non-governmental live auctions on the website. There are quite a few unusual terms in there regarding returns, item descriptions and photographs, and payment terms (you must pay within 48 hours of winning an auction) - and I'd hate to think of anybody falling foul of these terms because they simply failed to read them. Additionally, I should point, that the terms also specify penalties for people submitting fake or fraudulent bids - just don't do it!
