The owners of this website say that thousands of vehicles held by police departments are government agencies (like the IRS, FBI, and DEA) are auctioned and sold to the public every month. These vehicles include cars/automobiles, trucks, and SUVs.
Auctions may include seized vehicles, as well as government pre-owned/surplus vehicles. Government pre-owned/surplus vehicles are usually well-maintained and are often only 2-3 years old. Starting prices for auctions on these vehicles can be as low as $100.
This particular web site promises immediate access to over 4,000 updated auctions across the United States, including auctions in every state. (The site is pretty much aimed at US customers only).
One cool feature, is if you go to the Join page, on the Gov Auctions website, you can get an idea of how many auctions are your local area, before deciding whether you wish to join Gov Auctions. The page contains a map of the US, and if you hover your mouse over a state, you will be told the number of live and online auctions listed for that state in the database.
Like many similar sites, the way that the Gov Auction site works is on a membership basis. You pay to become a member, and then you get access to the information contained within the private member's area of the site. In the case of Gov Auction. At the time of writing, it seems that there are two main membership options:
